silence swimming in a pool of dreams
beneath its depths the forgotten streams
above, the city of the evening star
behind its walls, the grand bazaar
as she walks through its endless maze
cursing those who mistrust her ways
please my friend no matter what she sees
tell my lover come back to me

doorways spilling out their sombre light
casting shadows that will raid the night
along the alleys of her ruling fears
walk the visions that will cause her tears
lying still as she wills her glance
through the eyes of a charmers trance
please my friend no matter what she sees
tell my lover come back to me

and on the walls
shadows play
twilight souls
anguished ways
lost adrift
severed seas
i await you
come to me

The Beginning

She loved to dance, her long colorful skirt swayed with her hips as she danced around the campfire. People were laughing and clapping as men played instruments. More women joined her as the camp became active with music and dance. She laughed as she felt strong arms wrapped around her waist. Smiling, she knew who it was, the man she had given her heart to. He spun her around, chuckling they danced away from the rest of the camp.
"Soon we will be married and everyone will know of our love."
"Patience is needed, I need to train a new girl to take my place. It is not something that can be rushed."
"Well I guess we'll have to wait, even if it takes an eternity."He replied as he kissed her.
"Hopefully it won't take that long," she said as she kissed him back.
Just as they were about to retreat back into her tent, screams were heard coming from the campsite. Both of them turn to towards the direction of the screams.
"It's coming from the camp, Xavier."
"It must be bandits, you stay here while I check it out." Grabbing his sword, he headed for the camp.
She paced back and forth, wringing her hands but the feeling that something wasn't right wouldn't leave her. She couldn't let him go alone, so taking one large breathe, she ran off to help but she wasn't prepared for what she saw.
The camp was in chaos, bodies lie in piles; entire families were massacred, their bodies scattered along the ground. Wagons were overturned; their contents littered the campsite. The fires smoldered, soot coated the dying and dead in an ashen hue. The sickening feeling returned; it churned in the pit of her stomach as she rounded the corner where the musicians were playing only moments ago. There she saw him, lying in a pool of blood, arrows protruded from his body and a deep gash was cut into his scalp. He still clutched his sword as around him laid the men he killed.
Screaming, she fell onto his chest, trying desperately to find a heartbeat but there was none. She cried, curling her fingers through his blood soaked auburn hair Her sadness turned to anger; she grasped the end of the arrow that rested n his chest, releasing it.She began to chant, low at first but soon her voice echoed throughout the valley. The arrow began to tremble then glow a faint blue.
"Show me the way." Her voice was low with a poisonous undertone. The arrow rose from her hand, exploding into thousands of small blue particles. They made a path in the air heading west toward the town that days earlier refuse them entry.
She drew a small knife from her belt and drew it across her palm, inciting a few words as the blood fell onto the earth. The blood began to boil then form into hideous creatures, their eyes nothing more then greenish fire and their mouths open showing yellowish teeth. Claws scraped the earth, eager for their mistress to give her orders.
"Come my children, we have work to do."

They celebrated the cleansing of the gypsies and their sinful ways, bragging about their recent activities. They cleaned their weapons while drinking ale and flirting with the bar maids. The laughed as they remembered the women pleading for their lives while holding their children and laughed as they cut them down like animals.
Outside the tavern, several men stood in a circle, talking amongst themselves when one of them noticed someone walking towards the town. He motioned to the others to stay alert. They remained still as the figure came into the moonlight and they let out a sigh of relief and started to laugh. The woman did not seem like a threat although there was something about her eyes. As she drew nearer, their smiles faded as they saw what was behind her. Dozens of reddish black forms resembling various animals followed behind her. One was perched on her shoulder, a crow like creature; the eyes were red as were its beak and claws. It screeched a high pitch sound making the men cover their ears.

The men in the tavern were oblivious to the commotion coming from outside until one of the men came running in, his complexion ghost white and his breathe came out in spurts, trying to get his words out before collapsing on the floor. Deep claw marks were gorged into his back, blood pooled onto the floor. Unable to figure out what he said, they got up from their chairs to peer outside.
People were scrambling, screaming as animal like creatures attacked anyone or anything. Some were devouring their victims alive while others were simply standing, waiting for something. The grabbed their weapons and headed outside, stopping as one of the creatures rushed past, chasing a woman before beheading her with one swoop of it's large paw. Among all the commotion stood a young woman; her face remained emotionless as two of the beast stood on either sides of her. He soon realized that she was the source of these abominations but as he charged, sword clutched in his hands, one of the creatures stopped in front of him. He feinted right as the creature went left causing him to have an opening to stab it in the side. His sword slid in as it was coated with black blood. The metal began to hiss, smoke rose up as the blood began to corrode the metal like acid. He dropped it as the acid made its way up the hilt toward his hand.
The man stared wide-eyed, transfixed on the creature's side as where just seconds ago he had stabbed it. The creature circled him; snarling, black drool foamed at the corners of his mouth. It lunged forward canines bared as it large mouth wrapped around his throat, killing him instantly. The beast rose and lifted its head to the sky, howling before settling down to enjoy its meal. She watched as her creations devoured the townspeople and an hour later she motioned them to return. Fully sated, they laid down, eyes locked on hers. She knelt down and reached out a hand, one of them rose up and nuzzled her hand before she scratched it behind its ear. It eyes rolled back as it tail swayed in joy.
"Go rest now my pets, you did well."
With a single word, they began to dissipate like smoke, leaving only a faint smell of sulfur behind. Only one remained, the one perched on her shoulder, she look at him, rubbing her finger over his head.
" I see you want to stay?" It cawed and nodded.
"Very well, my friend."
She approached the only remaining soldier alive, his breathe was raspy as he tried to breathe. Deep wounds were clawed into his chest and face. Blood flowed freely from where his left arm once was.She knelt down, eyes fixed on his, and she smiled, taking his face in her hands.
"You made a bad mistake my friend. You did not know who you were dealing with."
He look at her with hatred in his eyes and then he spoke.
"You and your kind don't deserve to live. You are vermin who need to be exterminated."
"Well I guess the same can be said for your kind." She smiled as she pointed to what remained of his family.
He looked over to see what she was pointed at and saw his pregnant wife and young son laying dead. They bodies mangled, large chunks of flesh was missing where the beasts had feasted. He cried out in anguish as he looked back into her eyes.
"You will pay for what you done."
"I already have and now you have paid for what you have done."
She reached behind her back and pulled out her beloved's sword. She lined it up to his heart and sank it in deep. He screamed as he slowly died. With her revenge sated, her demeanor changed, as did the small creature on her shoulder. It's black feathers slowly melted into colorful hues of orange, red and purple. The head feathers became white and its eyes a deep blue.
Sighing, she started to chant and as she did, the bodies began to burn as did the town. The flames rose, incinerating everything in its path.
"No one will ever know this town was ever here." She sighed once more, making her way back towards her camp where she cast another spell this time, Tendrils of colorful lines sprouted form her words and no flames were created except all the bodies began to transform into beds of flowers, trees, and animals. The campsite became a sacred place where nothing would die; everything would remain as it was. She smiled as animals began to surround her, a deer and her child rubbed against her side, nodding its head before bounding off into the forest. Only one body was remained, unchanged by her magic. Her love laid, arms crossed, eyes closed with a smile upon his lips. She knelt down as the animals surround them both and with her strength almost gone, she kissed his lips. His body began to tremble. Crystals had begun to encase his body, light blue in color and as it crept up his legs to his head, she touch his cheek before it too was frozen in time. She wept one final tear before turning towards the animals.
"He'll watch over you, my friends. No need to fear anymore."
With all said and done, she headed off into the sunrise, into parts unknown.
