Charlotte Harlow is a good person, yet, you could say, misunderstood. She comes from a small, loving, yet broken family from Europe: when she was just a teen, her mother passed away from a disease of the heart. That was when she decided to become a cardiologist: to help people in the same or similar situations as her.

She spent countless hours immersed in the world of medical books, of special articles in newspapers and magazines, and, later on, of internet. She wanted to learn as much as she could before entering into college, and to know just enough to try and prevent her father (and herself) for dying that way. Charlotte also usually brags about how she had to get over her hemophobia in order to become a medical specialist.

Three months after the death of her mother, she and her father moved to another country, so that she could have better chances of becoming a doctor. Up to this date, she’s already received her diploma and has become a cardiologist; she’s already helped a lot of people, and tried to save even more: but, unfortunately, she couldn’t save them all.

She still remembers one person in particular: it was a married man who had a young son, but he was in critical condition and didn’t survive the operation. It wasn’t because of the restless hours she spent with the other surgeons to try to save him - it was because the kid’s reaction. The boy couldn’t believe that his father had died, and because Charlotte had to give the family the bad news, he thought she was responsible of it. That’s when the fake stories and the rumors began.

The boy would tell his friends that good doctor Charlotte Harlow was no more than a vile, low, bizarrely bloody vampire. He’d tell them that she came from a shady, a horrible place from Europe, where lots of creatures like her lived; that her father was a vampire, and that he’d kill her mother in order to teach the girl how to hunt; that the “hemophobia” thing was just a cover up, just a pretext to hide her true nature; that she’d kill her father because she hadn’t had a single taste of blood in a full moon; and that she became a cardiologist just because she loved toying with food.

But Charlotte would just shrug and look away. –I have to admit, when mom died, I was overdriven by sadness-, she’d say. -My poor little heart couldn’t believe it, and I’d spend entire days without sleeping, and barely eating and drinking. I wanted her back… but I just had to accept the fact that she wouldn’t, and that I had to keep on living-, she’d sigh and smile, although it’d fade away pretty quickly. –Although… I wouldn’t blame the doctors for her death, and start telling people that they were vampires and stuff…
