Lucio Gerwicket made the decision to start hitch hiking when he was unceremoniously fired from his job where he'd been researching Bistromathics. Well, it was less of a decision and more that hitch hiking was his last resort if he wanted to keep on living. The accident hadn't been entirely his fault, anyway... he hadn't purposefully dumped that plate of spaghetti over the robot waiter and sent the research team spiraling nine-and-a-quarter months forward in time and three solar systems away.

Well, he'd always wanted to travel, anyway.

So, armed with nothing but a towel and a guide to seeing the galaxy for less than thirty Altarian dollars a day (no one could argue with that price!), he set out for the nearest spaceport and hitched a ride on the first dirty transport ship he could find.
