It was late in the evening when they exited the Opera Mystique, Christine Daee arm in arm with her husband of eighteen years Raoul the Viscount de Chagney. Followed by her daughter Evaline. Little did they know they were not alone. He watched them, watched her, she was beautiful. Captivating. Dare he say he loved her. But first there was another matter at hand. Their roles were decided for them and they both had a part to play yet.
Evelina smiled arm in arm with her mother. They had enjoyed the play immensely.
"Did you enjoy the play, Evelina?" Christine asked her daughter a warm smile upon her face. Her daughters face lit with excitement as she took a few steps away from her parents.
"I loved it! What was it like when you were performing?" she asked twirling her dress spinning at her heels. Christine paused as if to consider what to answer her daughter with however, Raoul provided an answer for her.
"Your mother was magnificent! She captivated the hearts of all Parisians with her performances." he swept his hand into the air to add effect while his wife smiled as if thinking of a distant memory. Though it had been a long time since her time as a performer, The Lady Viscount did not think that enough time had passed for the memories those words brought about to be thought of again.
"Raoul, my dear, those days are a distant memory." she said almost flatly. Her husband giving her a soft smile. Evelina watched her parents inclining her head in confusion before turning as she heard someone approaching, it was a young boy perhaps eight , maybe ten at the most.
"Excuse me, miss. A gentleman asked this be delivered to you." he said handing her a worn envelope branded with a red wax seal. A curious thing to be given and even stranger the parchment on which it was wrote. It was elegant in its own way. As her parents came closer they looked on with curiosity and a bit of apprehension when it came to seemingly harmless notes. No matter where they were from or from who.
The note was bound and closed with a single wax seal one that caused her mother to gasp and her fathers face to go white.
"W-Who is it from dear?" Christine stuttered out praying it was not from whom she feared.
Evelina opened the letter.
"Oh its an invitation..."
'My love, the stage has been set once more. I bid thee return to my Opera House and reprise the role meant for you in one final performance!'
