Such a Sly Girl

Cidney pursed her plump cherry lips as her suitor prattled on about places and people she could not care less about. Her mind was elsewhere, though you could not tell by looking at her face. She smiled up at him delightfully as he finished his ramble, offering to him a slender hand. He took it, surprising her with his gentle grip, and whirled her onto the dance floor.

He was a fine specimen - tall and muscular with dark skin and light eyes, easily the finest of her collection were she to take him. He twirled her slender frame easily across the dance floor, parting the crowd and forming a circle around them. They cheered as he dipped and tossed and swirled her through the air. She laughed, a chime tinkling in the breeze. He would be hers.

As the music faded and the crowd began to part, Cidney pressed herself against her prey, feigning fatigue and mumbling nonsense into his chest. He gathered her in his arms and placed her gently upon a cushioned chair well away from the lingering guests.

"I should not have pushed you so hard, my Lady," he said respectfully. "You are a marvelous dancer." He pulled a chair across from her and lowered himself into it.

Cidney blushed, not genuine of course, but he would not know the difference. "You, my Lord, are much finer a dancer. Why, I barely did a thing." Cidney prized herself in her ability to feign innocence. It was the best of emotions, she thought. It came in handy more often than one would believe. She placed a hand on his knee and felt his warmth radiating. He was brilliant.

He cleared his throat, small spots of color blossoming on his cheeks. "I had best be getting you home, my Lady...? He hesitated, clearly embarrassed. "I am afraid I do not know your name."

There was her opening. She focused her mind, expanded it forward until it was inches from his. All she needed was the key. She readied herself. "Cidney," she said breathlessly, leaning forward seductively. "My name is Cidney."

He leaned forward, inhaling her scent. "Cidney," he whispered.

She pressed her lips to his and let her mind enter. He gasped, eyes wide and began to spasm in his chair. She searched his conscious for his emotions - after all, every mind was different - and upon location, calmed him. She let out a breath she did not know she had been holding. He began to breathe regularly.

"Your name is Deryn," she said lifelessly - in any other tone the commands would not work. "You are mine. You belong to me, Cidney Lannister. Do you understand?" He nodded obediently. "Excellent. Come with me now, Deryn."

She led him from the yard and through the garden toward her stately home. Only there could she truly make him hers.
