Writing
To put it bluntly, the sluagh had never been warmly welcomed by other fae. They found them eerie (and by their standards that said quite a lot), and frankly just plain weird. Untrustworthy, even. Always lurking in the shadows with their seemingly endless amount of knowledge about everything, and everyone; it's often said there's no such thing as a true secret because, somehow, some sluagh always seemed to know about it, and in full detail. To make it worse, they were the nightmare fae.
They were the faeries capable of creating the dreadful magic draining beasts that plagued the minds of mortals and fae alike, filling others heads with endless amounts of horrible thoughts and images and feeding off the fear that ensued. They were equally capable of bending their form to match their terrifying creativity, allowing them to manipulate others regardless of if they were awake or fast asleep. Though the sluagh typically didn't target other fae (unless they were provoked, which some found as a past time, especially trolls), that didn't make them any less frightful, and for that the other fae despised them. For centuries they waited for a golden opportunity to arise, so they could rid themselves of the sluagh once and for all. Eventually, it happened.
The details of the sluagh damnation are blurry at best; those who know what took place rarely speak of it (presumably due to fear), and it's unknown if the sluagh know the true history of it or not as they never divulge anything to an 'outsider' of their kith. All that is publicly known about the ordeal is that many of them were slaughtering and the rest were given an unbreakable curse, then exiled to the abandoned undergrounds in the realms outskirts.
It's rare, these days to see a sluagh in the rest of the faerie world, though when one does they're typically avoided if possible. Whatever happened in the days of old, happened because of fear and, now, they are more feared than ever before.
Notes
• Particularly skilled with manipulation of fog, mist, shadows, and darkness. Can physically alter his form to almost any shape, making him almost incapable of being bond or captured (with the exception of iron).
• Like all fae, Craig is incapable of directly lying and is vulnerable to anything made of iron.
• Sluagh are seemingly incapable of speaking louder than a whisper so speech is typically broadcast directly into the ears of others; it's unknown if this limitation due to biology or a preference, either way it tends to unnerve anyone who isn't used to dealing with them.
• Able to see and communicate with wraiths [ghosts, spirits of the dead, etc.], as well as consume their souls as a means of harnessing their energy, memories, and knowledge. Typically this a wasted effort on mortal souls, considered worthless in most regards, though he’s been known to eat them out of sheer annoyance. Has been working diligently, mostly out of spite, to manifest previously consumed wraiths to control; this is more useful in the human realm, as they're more likely to divulge information to apparitions of dead relatives.
• Like all Sluagh, Craig is a hoarder of what most consider to be junk; the older the better. This includes antiques, relics, broken objects, jewelry, shiny things, books, furniture, mirrors (especially broken mirrors), and anything with ties to the dead or believed to be cursed. The more an object was cherished by the living the greater chance memories linger, which can be absorbed by sluagh.
• Is a complete little shit who's incapable of feeling shame; will do anything in his power to get what he wants.
• Collects all and any knowledge and secrets that he can get his hands on, and as such has an endless surplus of information about almost everything, and almost everyone; blackmail is one of his favorite past times.
