The real CoosCoos is a cat who appeared out of nowhere. Not literally of course, but we were fairly used to seeing the cats that lived on our street who would sometimes wonder into our garden. The day she strolled in through our open kitchen door was the day we gained a member of the family. A little cautious about feeding other people's cats, we put down a bit of milk for her, which she drank up instantly and during which we noticed she wore no collar. She looked too well-fed to be a stray, so we did the right thing and put up flyers around the village with her picture and our telephone number - "Missing: brown tabby cat with white socks, please call if lost". When nobody claimed her after a month, we decided that since she had grown so used to us, it would be best to keep her and look after her.

She is a cat who sleeps twenty hours of the day and lies around for the remaining four. Loving and great companionship if you want to curl up on the sofa with a good book and a mug of Earl Grey tea. Definitely not an active cat, she will simply watch birds hop across in front of her without any attempt to try to catch them (that would be far too much effort). She is not a malicious cat in the least; even if you touch her back paws when she is lying down which she doesn't like so much. She will never bite nor scratch, except by accident - when holding her she sometimes digs her claws into your arm but if you poke her paws with a free hand, she will retract them as if she hadn't noticed she was hurting you. She loves hugs and cuddles and of course, being stroked and brushed, which causes her fur to float everywhere; it seems as though she moults all year round.

The real Coos 2Extremely tolerant is one way to describe Coos; she will put up with pretty much anything. You can stack things on her (pencil crayons, papers, tea towels, ect) until you feel mean for taking advantage of her tolerance because she will never complain. She will simply lie there and take it until you feel guilty enough to remove said items and then will look at you as if to say, "what the heck was that about?" before probably yawning and settling down to go to sleep where she is - usually the sofa. The little snoozing noises she makes when she is sleeping will tell you if she's really asleep or just lying with her eyes closed, which she does a lot resulting in her always looking sleepy. There is only one thing that can distract her from her upcoming slumber. Anything cylindrical such as a glue stick, she will bat off of the sofa. For some reason she cannot stand it being on there with her, it has to be knocked onto the floor.

Slightly short-sighted and a little partially-def, she will not be aware of your presence until you move close enough for her to see you, by which she is constantly inadvertently made jump. She usually grumbles when this happens. She does not have a cat flap nor a litter box so her meowing usually means she needs to go outside. A few hours later when we let her back in, more grumbling ensues. They are the kind of grumbling noises that are almost as if she is saying, "you left me outside for hours, you idiots." This is usually preceded and followed by a trip to the biscuit bowl. She loves those biscuits. And thus we are forgiven.

The real Coos 3When it comes to food, she is not picky. She will try to eat anything that is on a plate; chicken, fish, chips, pie, you name it. Sometimes we treat her and give her chopped up bits of tuna, ham or chicken, but we usually give her Sheeba tinned cat food as well as Whiskers biscuits. She also happens to love tea, so if you leave a cooled cup anywhere she can reach she will drink it (although this is usually discouraged). Milk is of course a given and even ice cream in any flavour. These are small treats that aren't given too often, however.

Alone in a room, Coos will meow loudly to 'find' somebody. She will also actively come looking for somebody if there is nobody in the living room, where she usually sleeps whilst downstairs. She is a cat who craves company because she knows how much fuss she will get from how loved she is. Of course our beds are where she sleeps - she could not possibly sleep in a cat bed.
