“Welcome to the Kitty in the house! May I help you?” greeted Omi cheerfully to the person who had just entered the shop, the bells on the door jingling as he spoke. At that hour of the morning clients were scarce, so the young boy was on his own attending the flower shop, with his yellow apron and the backwards navy cap as usual.

He listened to the woman’s request and nodded, writing down the order on a piece of paper. Ikebana wasn’t his strong point, so he would just pass it onto one of his co-workers.

“Got it! If you could give me your name and a telephone number, we will call you when it’s done. It will probably be finished by tomorrow, but just in case.” Omi’s sweet smile never failed to make the customers sigh, and this was no exception. The woman nodded and smiled back, telling him not to worry if they needed a couple of days to get it ready. She gave the inquired data to the boy, who scribbled it quickly on the paper before putting it with the rest of pending orders.

“Well, that’s it, then. Is there anything else I can help you with?” asked the boy, who got a ‘no’ for an answer.

“Thank you for coming to our shop!” replied then, bowing to the customer with his ever-so-bright smile. The woman bowed too and bade him farewell before exiting the little shop, making the bells ring again.

It was then when his smile faded away.

“I really hope it’ll be done by tomorrow” he muttered to himself, returning to tend to the numerous plants and flowers that crowded the shop. At first glance, the Kitty in the house seemed a flower shop like any other. It’s most remarkably trait was the workers who attended it, four handsome boys that had gotten a huge fanbase among the females of the neighbourhood – and even of the city. What nobody knew was that those cheerful and kind florists were also assassins, the members of the Weiß group that worked for a secret organization of the Japanese police.

That was their secret and their main job, while the flower shop was just their cover. Because, who would suspect of a bunch of harmless florists? As long as they were careful and didn’t leave any trace – or get injured – while completing the missions, they could leave peacefully behind that façade.

The water flowed from the watering can to the soil of the pots, where exuberant plants laid under the sun. Omi didn’t dislike per se that living style, but sometimes it bothered him not having a say in it. He didn’t choose being an assassin, nor working as a florist. But he just hadn’t any other option. He didn’t have any family who cared for him – or at least, he didn’t recall it – and as far as he could remember, he had been raised to be a killer from the beginning. Even if he was the youngest of Weiß, he was an invaluable member of it due to his computer skills, and was usually in charge of gathering the necessary information for the mission. Plus his abilities with archery and darts were always useful in combat and made up for his lean constitution.

Still, Omi hoped that someday in the future he would be able to remember who he was. Who his family was and where he belonged to. And then, maybe, he could escape that life of blood and death. But until then…

The bells of the door jingled when it was opened, and Omi turned around with a wide smile on his face.

“Welcome to the Kitty in the house! May I help you?”
