Story

The library was housed beneath a great tree, the roots acting as shelves for the books which ranged in subjects from nature and plants to fairies and magic. The cavern had been formed naturally, the tree acting as a guardian, protection for the precious books. And Adarian acted as the caretaker to those books. While cataloging and keeping track of the books were part of his duties, these books needed a surprising amount of care. Many of them were living, some partly so - with plants, flowers, and even moss forming them.

Adarian's training as a horticulturist had helped him gain this position. He had always been drawn to plants and he adored books so this was the best possible place for him. While fairies and magic had never interested him before he came to be here, he was finding them fascinating - especially their relationship with nature. It also helped that he had more interaction with them here than he had in his former desert home.

He barely ever left the library; it felt more like home to him than his own dwelling, and the books called to him far more than the desert. He couldn't imagine ever leaving this forest to go back to the Sacred Desert. While he missed his former yip, he loved what he did.

-----

His first day at the library was ... hectic, to say the least. Everything seemed foreign to him. The smells, the sights, the sounds, and especially the people. He was a naturally quiet person, somewhat reserved. But the forest, the library - everything was filled with such colour and brightness. The Sacred Desert was bright, but it was a different kind of light than what covered the forest. Even though the library was underground, it was still impossibly filled with light - Adarian assumed it must be magic.

While not as social as most jollins, he did still enjoy being around others. There weren't any other jollins in this forest - the majority of them preferred the Sacred Desert and Arctic Frost. But there were plenty of others for him to socialize with. The first (and second... and third... and maybe even the forth...) time he met a fairy he was amazed. He couldn't help but stutter a bit. Adarian was so glad his dark fur hid his blush. He found it much easier to talk to the pixies. But that's probably because they didn't talk back...

Of course what he loved the most were the flora. They were so different than the kind he had grown up around in the desert. Adarian usually hated waking up in the morning, but knowing that he would have more to learn and explore each day certainly made getting out of bed easier.
