"How odd. A newcomer. Let's make sure you're useful, I suppose. Move your paws."
You wriggle around a bit, moving your paws up and down. The air here feels dense, heavier than you're used to.
"Hmm. Good. Now, breathe."
You take a deep breath, sucking in the heavy air. It all feels damp and weighs down your fur.
"Very good. Open your eyes."
You do so, and immediately regret it.
A frightening sight greets you as you stare into icy blue eyes. A coldness seems to seep into your bones as you quickly avert your own gaze, observing the owner of those accursed eyes. It is a brown tabby cat, with broad shoulders and a white chest. Scars paint his dark pelt, and you can tell that he has faced many battles. His muscles are in a constant state of tension, as if ready to pounce at any moment. Above him, the dark veil of a starless sky is just barely visible past haunting dead trees, whose branches reach outward like bony fingers. Luminescent moss that devours the base of these dead black trees is the only thing giving even a hint of light in the maze of shadows.
"I am Hawkforst, newcomer. This is my territory. Welcome... to the Dark Forest."
