Rotting to the bone, Pestilence is one of the four horses heralding the Apocalypse. It is the embodiment of disease and the source of all ailments in the world.

Pestilence can frequently be found traveling with its partners: War, Famine, and Death. The horses follow after one another, their interest piqued by the handiwork of their companions, and create sweeping paths of destruction in their wake. Chaos and misery run rampant through the populations as diseases spread, violence escalates, starvation takes a hold, and the death toll rises.

Pestilence will decide to roam through an area, spreading plague wherever it steps. This catches the attention of fiery War, who willingly stirs up hostility between groups convinced that the other is to blame for their stricken population, and soon large-scale battles break out. Famine, thin and black, gleefully dances in, destroying huge swathes of crops and causing more suffering. Ghostly pale Death always shows up by the end, eagerly plucking souls from mutilated, tormented bodies.

And Pestilence continues on, uncaring of the mortals' woes.
