"Oh Happy Days"

As told by Bob, the Dark Matter Pet Rock. Transcribed by Ashenwisp (She speaks metamorphic, and a scosh of sedimentary).

"Oh, what did I do to deserve this? I have always lived a simple, albeit rocky, life. You know, you go through igneous, metamorphic, sedimentary...just the average rock cycle, for what used to be an average rock. At the time of meeting it, I was a simple metamorphic rock. I spent my days lazing about in the sun, and nights curled up in the dirt. I was at a peaceful stage in my life. Although at times rather boring, they were good days, and I enjoyed them. Then it happened. On a beautiful, sunny clear, with barely a cloud in the sky, I heard a great snuffling around me. I attempted to remain inconspicuous, which is not at all difficult for a rock, as we do not breath or move. At least, I thought it was a fairly simple task. Unfortunately, I was gravely proven incorrect. With the only warning a dark shadow passing over my smooth, pearly surface, I found myself crushed in a foul, wet, warm mouth. As I attempted to muffle my screams in the hope that the creature would think I was just a dead rock. Then, just as suddenly, I found myself flying through the air, towards that beautiful blue sky. Thinking that perhaps I really had died and was on my way to Heaven, I closed my eyes, only to feel my stone body tumbling over and over back towards the earth. Hoping that the impact would be quick and that I would soon become sedimentary once more, I braced myself for impact...only to fall back into that warm, slobbering mouth. I let out screams of outrage, and demanded to be released by that fiend, that Aelion, to no avail. I lost track of how many times I was thrown into the air and caught...and of how many times I hit the hard ground and was chipped away at, when it failed to catch me. I prayed over and over to be forgotten, to lie where I was, to just melt away as though I were igneous...and my prayers went unanswered. The days blurred together, and gradually I lost hope. I began to spend most of my time hibernating, pretending that it was just a terrible dream. My way of coping exceeded my expectations in its ability to block out the cruel world, and I spent several years in a nearly comatose state.
That is, of course, until the day second only to my meeting of Aelion occurred. You see, although I was hibernating most peacefully, I was unable to shut off all of my senses. Upon nearing the bad lands, my body awoke me to the terrible danger we were in. Quivering with fear, I attempted to warn Aelion, but it would not hear of it, and did not recognize my pleas, even with its rather large and grotesque ears. It padded along slowly on what should have been nimble paws, doing its horrid snuffling act.
I sensed her presence even before Aelion did, but having no arms and legs, I could not escape. It didn't even have the kindness to throw me as it usually did. A low cackle sounded all around us, filling the air with power. Aelion whirled around on those evidently useless paws, and tongues of dark matter whisked up its legs, trapping it. Aelion let out frightened yips and the chains tightened around its legs, drawing blood, and Maleria approached. I did my best not to look her in the eyes, fearing she was as capable as Medusa at turning others to stone.
'Idiot jollin, you have no business in my territory...and serve of no purpose to me,' Maleria whispered, cradling Aelion's head in one hand. Aelion whimpered, and Maleria sliced at its neck with a long nail, immediately drawing blood. I could tell that the binding of the dark matter was the only thing keeping Aelion standing. 'Yet were I to kill you, I would have to face many repercussions from those on the side of light,' Maleria mused aloud, and absentmindedly curled a bit of hair around her finger. 'What to do, what to do?'
An evil gleam then shone in her eyes. 'Oh, I know!' She thrust her left hand into the air, a ball of dark matter already overflowing in her cupped hand. Lightning flashed down from the suddenly storming sky, lighting the surrounding lands, and hitting Maleria's upraised hand directly. She cackled as her hair was made to stand on all ends, a manic grin plastered upon her face. Then, acting as a conduit, she directed her right index finger at Aelion, and we were instantly engulfed in violet lightning. Dark mattered swirled all around, and Aelion and I's cries of pure agony resounded out into the night. Mercifully, the pain was too much, and I found myself lost to the darkness of the furthest reaches of my consciousness, the sound of Maleria's unbridled glee echoing throughout my mind.
It was Aelion's whimpering that brought me back to my painful reality. I struggled to open my eyes, and instantly regretted it. Dark matter surrounded me, pulsing in time to my heart rate, and I knew I had been cursed. The bubbles of dark matter danced gaily upon the air, rising and falling in the breeze, and I shivered, knowing full-well that we would now have to answer to Maleria's beck and call. Aelion's heartbeat was uneven and I found myself surprised to be tucked so closely into its curled-up body, as though it had attempted to protect me. FoolIt whimpered once more, and the scent of blood was heavy upon the air. I found myself passing out once more, the bloody dark matter the last thing I can remember seeing...
And then I woke up. Here. In this home. Do I find myself having been rescued? No. I find myself still the chew-toy, tennis-ball of an idiot jollin. Thanks. Thanks a lot, Ashenwisp."
