Zeke looked at the ever growing city of New Marais. It had been years since he had last been there and he could now see what had been changed from this once great city. It was filled with an army with a thirst for causing trouble, lead by an ever corrupt leader. Many of the citizens had tried to fight back, only to be taken away and never seen again. Zeke knew that he had to stop these actions, however there were already problems that were in need of fixing. He had betrayed a friend for his own gain, only to have it collapse and be left with a tattered friendship. Zeke looked away and began to head to his hideout. It was nothing special, just a couch, a television set, a tent and a few wooden crates. While on his way there, he couldn't stop thinking of how he had betrayed his one and only friend. If only he had listened, none of these events may have never happened. He arrived at the hideout to find Nix. She used to live in the Swamp outside New Marais, that is until Bertrand killed everyone there except her. "Are you ready? We're gonna go get that woman you guys are friends with." She said staring at Zeke. "You mean Agent Kuo?" "Yeah, that chick." Zeke nodded and took a seat on the couch. "So when is the Demon gonna show up?" "Cole will be here soon, he's just finishing up some business." Nix took a seat on one of the wooden crates and pointed to Zeke. "How do you even know Cole?" "We were friends..." said Zeke slowly putting his head down. "Were? What happened?" replied Nix with a slightly confused look. "I blew it. Big time... Its... Its a long story." Zeke shifted his eyes in another direction, trying to get out of the conversation. " Well, I've got time. Tell me how you screwed up." Zeke chuckled for a second before looking at Nix. "Alright, I'll tell you what happened since he might be a while.""As you know, we came from Empire City. It's a lot different city than New Marais. Its filled with Skyscrapers. Anyway, me and Cole had been friends for years that is until one little event happened." "What happened?" Nix said with an eager look on her face. "A phone call." said Zeke looking straight a Nix. " A phone call? Had could one little phone call cause a friendship to collapse?" Nix replied folding her arms. "This was not just any phone call. This was the phone call that changed history." "Woah. A phone call that changed history? Isn't that a little extreme?" "No, This was the phone call that had changed history. It hadn't happened before, but one person had changed history with this call." Zeke looked straight at Nix, waiting for a response. Nix looked at Zeke in confusion, questioning what he had been saying. "Cole had got called into work." Zeke replied, breaking the silence. "He got called in to work?!? How does this change history?!" Nix yelled loudly. Zeke just looked at the enraged woman. He sighed and said " He had to deliver a package."" A package?" said Nix as she jumped up not expecting this answer. "Yes. What was in that package started this mess." "Well, keep going." "Heh. Alright. Well what was in the package was object known as the Raysphere." "That was the same thing Bertand used in the swamp..." Nix replied looking down at her boots. "That would explain why you have the powers you do. Anyway, Cole got called into work to deliver a package in the middle of The Historic District. No address, just a note saying to be in the middle of the city." "Wouldn't he find that a little bit strange?" "Oh he did, But his boss kept yelling at him to deliver the package. Saying he was the only one who could do it. It was only a month ago that I now understand why only he could deliver it." Nix had no words to say. She didn't even know what to think, but she has believed anything since she got her powers as a child. " Cole got to the Historic District but, there was no one to meet him there. He waited 20 minutes and there was still no one.... Then he got a call. Someone called to tell him to open the package. He didn't know what to think, but he did open it. He held the Raysphere in his hands. The second his hands touched it.... The whole Historic District was in ruins." Zeke looked up to see if Nix would respond. She was completely focused on the words coming out of Zeke's mouth. "Cole awoke in the rubble of what was once the Historic District central. He could barely stand up and he could not even remember what had happened early that day.He managed to get to the bridge before his powers started to awaken. The bridge shook and was falling apart with all the lightning he had summoned without even realizing it. He ran for it, Right towards me and Trish on the other side of the bridge." Who is Trish?" Nix Questioned. "She was Cole's girlfriend at one time." Zeke replied. " Cole managed to make it to us before he passed out in front of us. He was even clinically dead for four days before he woke up."" Four Days? How could you even wake up after that long?" "Even I don't know..." Nix went silent for a moment. "Continue on..." "Alright." Zeke replied. "Once he woke up, it caught us both of guard. We were pretty sure that he was gone for good, but he defiantly proved us wrong. He just looked as us wondering why we were so shocked. After we explain what happened he didn't believe a word we said until he blew up my gun by touching it." Nix laughed for a second until she than focused her attention on Zeke. "For the next ten days, me and Cole tried to help maintain his new abilities. After the tenth day, he really got the hang of his powers." Zeke looked over to the sunset, the bright orange colors on the city of New Marais made it look even more alive. "And just when things were starting to look up....Trouble had to happen..."" People eventually found a video tape of Cole holding the Raysphere right before this Historic District blew up. All over the city people were yelling at us, telling us that we would be better off dead. Cole just brushed off what they were saying about him but, it still had to do something to him what everyone was saying." " How did Cole's friend, Trish, respond to this?" " Once she heard what everyone was saying about Cole, she blamed him for the destruction of the city and the death of her sister. Anyway.... after a while of pretty much being black mailed to find the Raysphere once again by this FBI agent, Moya...." "Woah, when did the demon get black mailed?" Nix replied, interrupting Zeke. " Me and Cole tried to escape the city once everyone wanted us dead. I fell off the bridge out of the city and Cole ended up meeting Moya. She offered to let us all leave the city if we could find the Raysphere and a man known as John White."
