“You should not have come here,” The girl told the little thing shivering in her two cupped hands.It made a little noise; a question in the form of a squeak. “Why?” The girl said aloud, interpereting what it had said, stroking its head. “Because this place is not where you belong. We live in a world of grey, but you should be colourful.” The creature, Ineon, blinked her big magenta coloured eyes and shook her head. She knew she was no spectrum Kora; she was totally plain. A common thing that you could find and kick around in the street.Suddenly, the attic door burst open, and a figure stepped up into the room, accompanied by an icy gaze which sent chills down both female’s spines. “Matildi!” Said a booming male voice, who clomped towards them in his heavy army boots. The girl pushed Ineon behind her, but it was too late; she had been seen. “Y-yes father?” She stammered, blinking her innocent sky blue eyes and balling up her fingers into fists.Without warning, the huge man lunged towards his daughter and grabbed the Kora by the scruff of her neck, causing her to yelp out in pain. “You shan’t associate with these beasts.” He spat the last word in pure hatred. With a mere flick of his wrist, he tossed Ineon out of the window, shattering the thin glass with ease, her weak body falling down to the snow covered ground. The only positive to this was that the glass was very smooth and rounded compared to normal glass, and she had only gotten caught on one piece of her tail.It was quite a shock to Ineon, when she landed with a soft thud on the snowy ground. A weak sigh of true relief was exhaled from her body. If it hadn’t been the frosty season, she might have died from the impact of the fall. Shakily, she stumbled to her feet, and tuned her strong ears to the attic above. She was very concerned about Matildi’s safety. The girl had looked after her for many months without her cruel father discovering her. Matildi had told Ineon many stories of her father, some filled with love, some oozing with pure hatred. But the time had to come soon, since her brother had found out the night before, and her brother was always loyal to their father.She picked up their sound signals very quickly, and settled down in the snow intent on hearing what they were saying. “I’m sorry father!” Came a choked young and distinct feminine voice which was undoubtedly that of Matildi’s. “You will be sorry.” Said her father, and something stopped then. A heartbeat stopped from up above. A fluttering heartbeat which had been so familiar to Ineon for many months. The Kora’s mouth ran dry, and it was right then when she vowed to be bright, twice as bright, thrice as bright. For Matildi’s sake.
