Oh, sure, accepting the job had been his decision; he had, more or less, agreed to this, but no one had warned him how desperately loyal the other members of the base were to their former Head Bio-Physicist. No one warned him that the only other civilian personnel was the night janitor or that his employment there at all was a result of a very strong and very despised government push for control. And he was damn sure no one warned him about any speech.
