Gray clouds filled the sky and dissolved the honey colored light, which poured over the olive vineyard. Long rows of green as far of the eye could see colored the land. A Noctou let out a shriek before landing on the shoulder of a white Bhakoru, who was lying in the shadow of a tree. As the Noctou shrieked again, now soft and tender, the creature turned her head to look at him. "Solon," she smiled, "I knew you would find me." Solon pressed his little head against her cheek and she leaned slightly back in reply.
Pratibha was pleased. It had only taken Solon a week to find her this time, much less than before, and now she did not even look like her old self. "You will have to get used to it, old friend; I am not able to scratch you with these big paws." She looked down at her enormous dinosaur hands and feet. No longer would she hold a bow or shield, or skip through the thin pages of a book. It would be difficult, but she did not regret her decision for this new body. Her Father had disapproved the idea of leaving the realm of the gods, knowing she would be prey to the Nosoi. But was she not the one who had accompanied Odysseus on his journey, so he would find his way back home? And had she not ended the Trojan war, by giving them the Trojan Horse? She had never lost a battle, and feared no one.
Above her, the sky rumbled and she sensed the coming storm. Her Father had been restless since the day she had left, and she felt in her heart that she missed him. She had been the closest to him of all his children, and the farewell had been heavy. Her home had grown silent as time went by in the mortal world. None asked for her aid, praised her beauty and wisdom or left flowers at her temple anymore. No, her temples were now ruins, and the few statues that were left: tourist attractions. The people of Earth still remembered her, still heard the tales, but there were none who listened.
Some gods had accepted the change and had grown silent as stone themselves. Others fought fiercely to keep their power, but grew tired of having no success. Pratibha was one of the few who had taken a different path. If their own world no longer offered joy, she would look for it elsewhere. War, art, wisdom, all was still present, but on a different level. She had taken a new name, a new body and a new life. She would continue learning and living. Eventually, when her Father had enough, he would call her back and destroy this Age of Men, as he had done before. Then, together, they would rebuild it.
