Light from the computer screen is the only one that flared throughout the room, interrupted by a dimmed figure looking attentively to his screen. The chattering of the keys below paused time after time; yet it picked up at variable intervals. The blinds at the windowsill blocked the street lights from illuminating the night in the midst of a snowstorm. What light did come from the screen revealed a chilling coat of fur whose colours patched between teal, grey, and white. His ringed tail paced in the air slowly while his pointed ears remained vigilant. Much of his other features remained covered by the casual clothing he also had lying around that dusty abode of his.

He shifted his legs up on the table where the screen lay horizontally from the printer. It was wide enough for him to lean away from the direct glare of the light; but he soon readjusted himself in his black office chair and looked towards the screen again before looking down at his fingers. Five on each hand; but it only took a flick of the wrist to scramble various papers off the desk. Pushing his hands against his face, he wondered why he couldn't play both games like he wanted to. All he could feel was his degeneration and devolution in the face of being treated unlike an equal and without respect. A loyalist without something to give loyalty to was merely a straggler. Yet he wasn't ready to drown, he couldn't drown in that dimmed place, he could only float on what was left of himself.

The room felt colder than before as the window behind the blinds was opened to provide a small crevice for fresh air. Looking again at the screen he typed again and he only again saw the same stagnation here. They couldn't make their identities remotely applicable to reason. Overpowered, omnipresent, and with a dash of unintelligible nuances. The program was minimized for the time being, the browser was opened and loaded a new page; the time came to check up on something else. Perhaps here there was no difference, but progress appeared here from his work where elsewhere it did not. Progress that was meant to be inherited.
