Rose frowned, gazing up at the ship before her. She had to get onto it, she thought to herself; it may not be the easiest way to get away from this place but it certainly would be the one to get her far away.
She had a few problems, however. Firstly, she was skinny and short - which defiantly was not the ideal candidate for a pirate - nor was the fact that she was a woman, which supposedly meant bad luck for any ship she was on. But that had to be a lie. How could being a woman do anything problematic? Hell, she would be a great candidate; she had, after all, been a highwaywoman since her childhood.

Removing her hat, she ran a hand through her hair before boarding the ship.

She was running out of time: Gideon would be looking for her soon. As soon as she didn’t turn up at the wedding, he would know that something was wrong. Shaking her head, she turned her attention to the captain stood before her.

Within just a few moments they were already yelling at each other in fury.
Just let me onto this blasted ship!” she yelled at him, clenching her hands in anger. “Drop me off at the next port and I’ll find some other ship,” she added, “I’ll work for you until we get to that stage; I’m no simpering housewife.

I'm not gonna be lettin' a damned woman ont' me ship.” The captain replied. “That'd be beggin' fer it t'be struck down 'n' fer us all t' lose our lives at sea,” he added, crossing his arms. “A no is always a no, lassie. Yer not t' be on me ship when we're leavin' port.”

Just as she went to reply to the captain, she was interrupted.
"You're wastin' your time tryin' to get onto that ship," the voice said, "He's one o' the most superstitious pirates I've ever had the misfortune o' meetin'. You could always come on here though. As long as you work, that is."

She looked across to the newest speaker, slightly startled by his appearance; never before had she seen a man like him. Hell, she had never even thought that people could have white hair and red eyes. He was tall as well: looking rather lanky.

Tilting her head to one side, she stopped the mental commentary on his looks.
"Of course I would bloody work for you," she scowled at him. "I don't plan to go on a ship just to lie around on deck, doing nothing," she nodded.

"Then get off 'is ship an' come over here," the man replied.
She grinned, giving the captain of the ship she was currently on a dirty gesture before moving onto the other ship and standing in front of the captain.

Removing her hat and holding it to her chest, she bowed to him.

"Rose Lockwood at your service," she introduced herself. "Ex-highwaywoman: now a pirate," she nodded, looking up at him, smiling slightly.
"How long before we leave port?" she asked him.

Nervously, she looked back to the pier. God she was nervous: jumping slightly as she heard the sound of bells toll out across the town. Gideon would start looking for her very soon.
She needed to get hiding.

Rose was currently sat on the side of the ship: leaning back against the prow of the ship. Most of the crew were off at the tavern - drinking until they passed out - which meant she would have to go out and collect them all the next morning.
Lying down, she pulled on the chain around her neck: looking to the engagement ring on the end of it.

To this day she was still unsure to how she felt about leaving Gideon, especially on their wedding day of all days; she felt even worse now that she was crushing on her captain.
Their relationship consisted of flirting and joking around when she didn’t have to work. It had even got to the point when she had been able to give him a nickname.
The only thing keeping her from getting together with Jase was the thought of Gideon.

"Bored?" she heard a voice ask, a small smile appearing on her face as she recognised it to be Jase's, tucking the chain back under her shirt.
She turned to look at him, nodding.
"I have been for the last few hours, Captain,” she nodded. “Not all of us wish to go get drunk off their asses."

Getting up, she tilted her head to one side, watching him.
Maybe she should just go for it; it was not like Gideon would ever take her back: nor would she ever go back to him. So she may as well take a leap of faith and give Jase a chance.

"There's no one around an' we both know y'prefer t' call me Jase," came his reply, which only caused her to smile more.
"Seems to me like you want to be called Jase instead of Captain now," she commented, resting beside him. "It's a calm sea tonight," she commented, looking to it before glancing over to him.
"So how come you're not drinking?" she asked.

"I didn't want t' have a hangover if we set sail tomorro'," he replied, "An' we probably will. Anyway, I prefer Captain but yer the one who made the nickname so ye may as well use it."

She nodded, looking to the pier.
"Jase it is then," she nodded, standing up. "I best get to bed," she nodded, "So I'm all rested up for tomorrow."

Rose stumbled to one side as the waves crashed into the boat. She was soaked to the skin now by the combination of waves and rain. This was bad: this was really, really bad.
Even she, who was the least knowledgeable on ships, could tell that they would probably not live through this.

Glancing over to Jase, she headed towards him: wanting to help him. Even if she failed, at least she would die beside the man she loved.

As soon as she reached his side, she heard him yell to her.
"Rose, go. Now! I'm not letting you die because of an idiotic decision I made."
Narrowing her gaze, she grabbed onto the staircase.

"I'm not leaving you Jase!” she yelled at him, unsure if he could even hear her.
You're an idiot to think that I would ever leave your side; I will stay at your side even if it means I shall die,” she added.

"I love you, Rose!" she heard him yell, "Don't forget that. Get a new boat; this crew will accept you as their captain."
She paled slightly, realising that he would not let her stay. She struggled against the arms that picked her up: her eyes widening in shock as Jase kissed her.
She kissed him back desperately as she was pulled away.

Jase!” she screeched, still struggling. “Jase I love you, please don’t do this,” she begged him: knowing deep down it was no use.
Even if he could hear her, he would not help her.

Held in the vice like grip of her captor, she could only watch in horror as the ship was continuously battered by the sea: freezing as she heard the creaking of the ship as it plummeted down onto its side - a huge wave going up.

Jase!” she screamed, straining against the hold, unable to see anything other than bits of ship.

Jase please don’t die.” she begged.
