he shivered, pushing himself up against the stone alley wall. breath caught in his chest, he folded his wings close to his body. the ash drifted lazily to the ground like soft snowflakes, covering his shaking shoulders. smoke lingered in the air though the fire was long gone. shaking his head, the young lasirus looked up at the cloudy sky, tears brimming his eyelids. why... how could this happen? wiping his brown eyes, the mud-colored bat crawled up the burnt wall, his eyes straight ahead as to avoid the chaos around him. the fire may be out, but his home was no more.
korrah didn't know where to turn. fearful, the lasirus took a hesitant step forward, his eyes downcast. he did not want to see the carnage before his eyes. lifting his head a little bit, he sniffed the air. where were the scents of his mother, his brothers and sisters, his family? was the lad... alone? no! "MOMMA!" cried the child, his wings quivering in fright. "momma! where are you?" he began to panic, his chest rising and falling with fright.
