The world is dark, void of light and warmth. Echoes of life from decades past are all that are left on the barren wasteland that is Earth. Humans drained the land and the sea of all resources, and without the means to heal itself from the constant battering it’s selfish hosts… the Earth withered, and died. A million years passed.. And then another, and another. Soon, Earth was forgotten by all but the oldest Gods, and even they we much too ashamed by the way it was so easily used up and tossed aside to revive it.
One day, as the dead planet traveled slowly through empty space, a young Goddess discovered Earth and, not knowing it’s past, took pity on it. Over the next few thousand years, she crafted the finest planet she could. The ground was fertile, and kept moist by rain brought forth from clean oceans and rivers… but nothing would grow, and animals could not live more than a few days. It saddened the Goddess, and she almost gave up on her grand project when she remembered her parent’s planet, warmed and cooled by her mother, an Ice Goddess, and father, a Fire God. Within a year, she had crafted a beautiful pair of gods; the Sun and the Moon.
Beautiful as they were, they were stubborn, and danced around their creator, playing games and refusing to do their job. The twins loves each other dearly, and their creator knew they would never part willingly to do with they were formed to do. As cruel as she knew it was, the Goddess created a great fear in each of her creations… The fear of each other.
Connected by a divine chain, they now circle the Earth, each running from the sibling they once loved. Their fear allowed the seeds in the ground to grow, the animals to thrive, and humans once again were brought into light… and the Sun and the Moon continue to warm and cool our planet to this very day.
