How we met

Once upon a time on a cool, crisp autumn afternoon, Retro was on a hike in the National Park in Riverside Valley. She lost her way and stumbled into my yard. She startled me as I was raking leaves and whistling a catchy melody. 'Excuse me' she said and I think I jumped a mile high.

After a few minutes of chatting about her losing her way, I asked if she would like a drink, a snack, or maybe just a spot to sit to rest a bit. She followed me to my tree house and enjoyed some warm cider and a leaf cookie. That was when she said 'Oaklin, I really have to ask. Do you have a thing for acorns and leaves?' Oh my, is it that noticeable? Of course I do. I love, love, love acorns, leaves and autumn inspired things.

I showed her all my things and introduced her to Stash; who she absolutely loved. She just laughed when she saw my collection of acorns. She said it looked like I was stock piling for a long winter ... which honestly isn't a bad idea. She hugged and squeezed all of my dolls. And told me of her friends/babies. That was when she asked me to live with her.

I visited at first. Since I had never lived outside of the National Park, I wasn't sure how I would like it. I was very scared, but Retro made sure to hold me tight. When we got to her home, I met everyone she had told me about. And honestly, I loved it! I felt like I belonged. Then ... Oh my goodness, then she showed me the tree house she had made ... Just For Me! It was lovely, almost a perfect replica of my own in the Park. And that was when I decided, and I have been ever since. And I've collected more acorns, leaves, and autumn inspired things. I love it here!

Now when she goes hiking, I go with her. When we go to the National Park, We always stop in and visit with my friends that now live in the tree house. It's still just as beautiful as it was when it was mine. My friends have told me that a lot of Subetans stumble across the tree house when they get lost while hiking. And they have often adopted a Popoko or two. I think it was fate that Retro stumbled into my yard that autumn day so long ago.
