I stared at my reflection in the mirror, studying every effect of my new..."makeover". Every visual tweak seemed to also shift the aura that I'm supposedly giving off. I felt like I was staring at someone else when I saw the svelte feline standing before me. It didn't fit at all...my personality clashed so much with my look. I seem more like the Lioness herself rather than my genuine me.
--That's good. Exactly what we wanted, actually.
Was it...?
--Of course! Changing your entire look will give us some major attention! We can finally ditch the "freak" label, honey. That's exactly what I; um, WE wanted, right?
I...I think that might've been what I wanted. It would be nice to have people stop shooting wierd glances at me every so often...In fact, that's exactly what I want. I don't want to be a freak or an outcast. But this isn't really going to help anything, is it? There's no way anyone, me especially, that can see this little punk princess and register it as me. My eyes were still fixed on the mirror even when she coaxed me that it'd all work out.
--Chin up, darling, the Lioness purred in such a shadowed tone that it sent a chill down my spine. A rebel look like that needs the attitude to match.
What attitude? I gazed at the wispy wild-cat by me, my gaze full of despair and desperation. She narrowed her piercing ice-blue eyes, her pelt flickering with beautiful shades of firey orange and burgundy. She turned her back against me, showing off the flourishes spawning from her spine like wings. The flame on her tail blazed with exasperation; without looking back, her figure turned to fire and she disappeared into thin air.
"Wait!"
--Listen, the Lioness hissed in my head, although I couldn't see her anymore. If you want to succeed, that is...
Small wisps of orange collected together and formed the Lioness' familiar shape once again. There was a mischievous smile on her lips and that evil crease in her brow that made my skin crawl...Whatever it is she was so happy about, it sent a shot of foreboding through my veins. She lowered her head so that she could whisper in my ear:
--This is the plan...
