"Its all black now... its all... quiet... I can't hear a thing…"


Silence, it had engulfed her for what felt like a small eternity. The blackness of the four empty walls echoed with the sound of her own delicate breathing and it left Joan with nothing more than the company of her own lonesome heart. She had been trapped down there for decades, locked away like some dusty trinket that had no more use to its former owners. Joan had also been the kings high advisor, bodyguard, conjuror and sorceress, once upon a time, but now she was nothing more than entertainment for the sewer rats that had made their homes within the castles lowest dungeons. The gluttonous king had ordered for all sorceresses to be executed, yet his fondness of Joan had deemed her to be one of the more fortunate ones (if you could call being trapped in a lightless cage 'fortunate', that is). Despite never seeing the sun and being fed the ancient remains of the royal courts leftovers, Joan had managed to cling to the little life and sanity she had left- in the hopes that one day, she would be free.
