Nervous, you laugh, to ease the tense air
Scanning the floor of this fearsome beast’s lair
Broken toys and who’s-its
Glass smattered to bits
And legs to maybe five or six chairs
You again look at him
Now with a shy grin
“May I offer a hand
Or is there some greater plan
You have to clean up these has-beens?”
“NO!” He booms as he gathers his wares
“Paws off, no time and no need for repairs!
No one can touch…
Plus you’ve seen half as much
What happens when you trudge on upstairs.”
You begin to furrow your brow
Relax your shoulders, unsure how
You’re at fault
Or somehow caused this assault
On his items that look ran through a plow.
“Go on, just go”
He whimpers, real low
And points to the latter

When you crawled on up top from below.
Gently you make your way down
Obeying his invisible crown
Tears well in your eyes
As you try to surmise
Why he mistook a friend for a clown
One small step on rung four
And Objects leap off the floor!
Colliding midair !
