All was dead. All was cold. All was still until soul imbued us with life. The first eye opened, then narrowed with spite. The first mouth twitch was that of a snarl.

Others tried. They made us shone with the brilliance of a thousand suns. They made us into the very embodiment of beauty, and so pure were we that even the gods wept in pity. Pity, because we were still. We were the paragons that never moved.

Then a counterpoint, soul, swept us along until we could run.

The first steps we took were those of apprehension and resentment. The gods gnashed their teeth. We fight them now.

Life now burns through our ruined bodies. Soul destroyed us so that we can live.

One day only one body will move and soul will be perfected.
