According to ancient texts, in 3000 BC Menes was named the first human King of Egypt, inheriting the throne and the crown from the falcon-headed god, Horus (also known as Ra, the God of the Sun). What was not written in history is that Horus also gave Menes another gift, a mechanical guardian named Ankhbes, the Guardian of Life. This guardian guided and protected the Pharaoh throughout his rule, always by his side, silent and loyal.

Forward's Egyptian name is will be Ankhbes; his name translates into "life (Ankh) protector (Bes)". The meaning of his name is that he protects the circle of life, he is the embodiment of idea that life always continues, no matter what, hence his English name Forward.
