San Francisco sat perched at the highest point of the Golden Gate Bridge, watching the world beneath him move and sparkle. He closed his eyes as a breeze swept around him, it was warm, and slightly damp from the bay. He felt at peace, like nothing else mattered; like all the famine, discrimination and war had suddenly stopped.
But it happened; it still happened in the world beneath him. No matter how many cars passed below him, no matter how many times people died, cried, or even laughed over nothing, it still happened somewhere else in the world.
Although something was changing and he could feel it; there was a movement beneath him that felt powerful.
It was hope.
People were forming together in groups, groups were forming together in clubs, those clubs were forming states of minds. The generations were being influenced by what we should already know--we are all the same, and that meant the next generation would be more tolerable of people of different colour or sexuality.
After all it shouldn't matter; why should we shackle our own people who can't help the way they were born? The answer was simple: we shouldn't.
And maybe someday, this world would be as free as San Francisco was.
