The young mechanic
Growing up in the Highlands, Aonghas saw red deer almost daily. Early in the morning every weekday, he and his parents would drive nearly 80 miles from their small croft on the coast to a town more inland. Along the road his father would drop off his wife at the large manor where she cleaned, before bringing little Aonghas to his school and driving on to his work, a garage in the same town, where he worked as a mechanic.Strapped within his seatbelts, the little redhead would squash his face against the window, scanning the hillsides with his deep blue eyes for a sight of the local wildlife. He couldn't explain why, but he always felt an immense sense of joy at seeing red deer.
