THE MARAUDER'S MAP
This is what is written on the parchment the boy found by accident in the hidden room. It happened by accident, as the wizard ran from Professor Lupin after curfew. On the seventh floor corridor, he stopped to catch his breath, and started to pace. He walked down the corridor three times, all the while thinking, I need a way to hide from Lupin, I need a way to hide from Lupin. And that's when the door appeared. Naturally, the boy went inside, and thus found the parchment. At first it was blank, but a phrase appeared in his mind: I solemnly swear that I am up to no good.
He spoke that line, and the map appeared. It was incredible! It showed the locations of everyone in the castle, and their movements. He saw the name of the person he was looking for: Remus Lupin, and was relieved to see he was nowhere near the boy's current location. The only other pair of footsteps that was moving on the map belonged to a man named Peter Pettigrew. The student had never heard of Peter. Who was he? He was moving quickly away from Lupin, so perhaps it was another student sneaking out of their dorm? The wizard continued to study the map, and that's when his heart stopped cold. Sirius Black. Sirius Black was in the castle.
The thought of that murderous traitor loose in his castle terrified the young boy, and as much as he wanted to hide, he felt the need to warn somebody. But who? Everyone was in bed, except... And with a sinking heart, the wizard decided to find Lupin. Following the map, he gave chase. But soon after, he became distracted by yet another secret room of Hogwarts. Running past a door, the boy thought he detected a faint glow. Inside, he saw a large beautiful mirror. On the top it said Erised stra ehru oyt ube cafru oyt on wohsi. But this was no ordinary mirror, because when the wizard looked inside, he didn't see himself. Instead, he saw nothing more or less than the deepest, most desperate desires of his heart. Although he would never share what he saw with anyone else, the scene filled him with great hope and joy. But that quickly turned to fear and dread as he heard a loud growl from behind him. The boy turned to face a large black hound...
