"Can't remember, can't forget, can't remember, can't forget, can't-"

What if you could harness trauma and convert it into psychic power?

Themes: eternity, reincarnation, spiritual healing, mental illness, trauma, psychic power, rain, storms

Lore

basically a Jesus allegory character. A deeply traumatized and mentally ill psychic who is incredibly powerful but the pills they have to take for depression make it so they can't use said powers. They can see into all futures at once and it's fricking terrified. Constantly paralyzed by dread and disassociating.

All the Jesuses who don't wanna be a Jesus
but have no other choice than to be a Jesus

"When I was still little, bad things had gone on.
Things too awful to remember but impossible to forget."
"When you put something out of your mind, where does it go? Dark ghosts in limbo moved me around. I didn't know how to fight them."

"I'd be good and the dark ghosts would vanish."
"When your inner life is a place you have to stay out of, having an identity is impossible.
Remembering to not remember fractures you. But what is the alternative?"

"This ability to exist in pieces is what some adults call resilience. And I suppose in some way it is a kind of resilience, a horrible resilience that makes adults believe children forget trauma."

I read this book when I was thirteen, and my mom didn't want to because she thought it was "too adult for me". The section about resilience really stuck with me. This was the first time I read the word Resilience, and I misread it as "Re-Silence".
