Emery unfolded his satchel and stuffed the ragged map inside. He was pretty sure he knew where he needed to go but only time would tell. His claws had dirt under them as he struggled through thick mud in the forests of Shadowglen.

He had been walking in the Shadowglen forests for hours and still wasn't any closer to where he needed to be. He pulled his map out of the satchel and decided to opt for a second look. It was only then, when he saw the faded, illegible words he had looked at earlier, actually said "twisted root" that he realize he had been looking at the map upside down. He sighed and stuffed the map in his satchel once again, frustrated with himself for being so foolish. Clearly, it was time for a snack break. Emery knew he was going to need sustenance to make it to the treasure.

While he was scarfing down a can of beans he heard a twig snap nearby. He whipped around to look in the direction the noise came from, but no one was there. Emery returned to his beans cautiously, his eyes darting around for any signs of movement.

A glimpse of green caught his attention, mostly due to the fact that it was his favourite colour and he could spot it a mile away. He saw the little Ribbi sitting on a large protruding tree root staring at him. He approached the little fella with caution, scared to spook him.
"Hey little fella...", he whispered softly as he took a step closer.
*CROOOOOOOAK* the Ribbi bellowed loudly before hopping onto Emeralds head and sitting there comfortably.

Emeralds barely had time to react let alone prevent the Ribbi from turning his head into a sofa. But he was kind of fond of the cute little guy. He decided to let him come along for the journey, it was pretty lonely out here and he could use the company.
