Abandoned by his parents after being put through an experiment gone wrong. His appearance is now as such that most people would shy away from him out of fear. Despite this he retains a friendly attitude. He does not want to lose his mind and personality to the mutation as well, and prove anyone who calls him a monster right.
He is more careless about his physical wellbeing, but fortunately for him, the experiment made him stronger as well.
Aside from his "mother" Unsettling, Discarded is Flayk's only friend, but even Discarded isn't very insightful about what Flayk is really like as a person. Once he learned that past the monstrous appearance Flayk can be a friendly person, he has mainly regarded Flayk as a simple and naive person, often remarking upon the silliness of his idealism. Flayk knows that while Discarded can be rather unfriendly, he means well, and that he's a good person at heart. Which is probably part of why Discarded sees him as naive.
Sometimes the two of them visit a nearby town to acquire necessities, but Flayk of course has to be careful not to be seen. He wonders sometimes if Discarded would prefer to stay behind when they leave again, if he was certain that he'll remain human.
One day, Flayk meets Unraveling, who seems quite knowledgable despite not saying much about himself. And rather than back away in fear, he seems to show fascination towards Flayk. This meeting makes Flayk hopeful, despite Discarded's distrust towards the man.
