Gil is a selfish, self-centered, self-indulgent and ambitious young man and a talented Solaris Player (Solaris is a fast and brutal game in near future.. played with a small golden ball, actually a mixture out of Rugby & Handball). To reach his goal he doesn't care for the costs, as long as he has not to suffer, if others do, he does not care.

Despite his talent, Gil would never have made it to the first Solaris League without bribery and manipulation and others had to pay a bitter price for his Rise.

Gil has dragged other players through the mud and made sure that they either voluntarily pulled back or made sure they disappear from the scene, one of them is Marcello.

Gil ruined the young man's future through lies and intrigues. Supported by his wealthy father, this did not pose a major problem for Gil, since Marcellos family is rather poor. Marcello stood no chance against the much richer and more powerful man behind Gil, who used the press to completely ruin Marcello's reputation.
