[Unedited WIP that i wrote with a headache, will add more and make sound nicer later]

There once was a man who could raise the dead.

Necromancy is near universally regarded as evil, and it is no wonder such a dark art is viewed in such manner. After all, most necromancers are prone to summoning a hordes of zombies, or bringing to life a vengeful poltergeist to do their bidding.

The necromancer in our tale, however, was cut from a different cloth. He had no interest in zombie thralls or ghoulish servants. He taught himself the art of raising the dead simply because he could not deal with loss. He saw the beauty in life and wished to preserve it. Forever.

The necromancer -- a man who went by the name of "Domino" (though most believe this wasn't his real name) -- seldom used his dead-raising powers on humans. He was far more adept at animating objects (his pipe organ being his personal favorite item given life) or resurrecting dead pets. Nevertheless, he kept his knowledge close, in the back of his mind, lurking and waiting for the moment when it would be of use.

And useful it would soon become.

You see, Domino was the secret admirer of Hailey Welheim, a trapeze artist who performed at the local big top every summer. She did not know he existed, but even so, he knew he was in love with her. Her porcelain skin, her chestnut hair, wavy and long, flowing behind her as she flowed along a tightrope drawn high across the span of the tent. Maybe it was her art, not her, that he truly loved, but whether it was her or the way her toes danced along that inch-wide length of rope, it did not matter. He loved to watch her perform and he never wanted to be without the sight.

And the day that she fell from her rope, the slip of a foot sending her body crashing down into the sawdust below, her neck bent at an angle no human neck should bend, Domino knew how to keep her beauty alive.
