Historians have been unable to date the prophecy to an exact period, but many times over has it been analysed and interpreted. It has been thought that it was written somewhere around the time of the ancient Egyptians, but perhaps even before this. As far as interpretations, one professor theorized that it was an omen of death, of the end of times: the apocalypse. But this has been widely criticized. The meaning will always remain unclear for as long as the remaining sentence is unable to be read. The last word is globally accepted to be 'taken' but what is It taking? What is It? Or who is It?

But the prophecy does not allude to all those involved. There exists a creature of mysterious origins whose sole purpose is to protect what is prophesied to be taken; whatever it may be. The creature itself has only been seen a handful of times, mostly in sepia-tinted and blurry photographs of old, and delicate paintings etched onto the brick of the tombs of old Pharaohs long dead. They depict what looks like a household cat with sleek, deep-set black fur. The creature is seen with three eyes; one of which adorned its forehead. The three are ominous, lacking pupils and a stark milky white, adorned with a lining of iridescent gold. Around its neck and shoulders is a luxurious golden necklace, heavy set but weightless despite the creature's slight frame. Most startling is its size--- in drawings it is depicted as quite large despite it's appearance being similar to a domestic cat. If one were to equate it to a modern day animal, the creature would perhaps be the size of a modern cougar.

But like the prophecy itself, the creature is regarded as a mere myth. A kind of ancient cryptid, if you will.
