Amethyst the Darker Matter

Three brothers, unicorns, were born on an island not on any map and untouched by mortal hands. Nothing happened on this land that was not done by mother nature herself. The land nourished them, providing everything they needed to grow, plenty of food to eat, water to drink and it seemed the weather was never anything but ideal and comfortable. Together they would explore and they were still young-lings by the time they had finished and knew every inch of the lands by heart.

Here they contently lived day by day, still young and innocent enough that daydreams or thoughts about what might lay beyond the water never touched them. That is until the day they had a visitor, a large reptilian creature as red as a rose that bloomed on one of the bushes in the forest. The four, dragon and unicorns, watched each other from a distance for some time before the dragon approached. He smelled of new and curious scents but his size was frightening and the three colts retreated. It would only be a few hours before they would meet again but the dragon was no longer large and imposing, he was a man, and at the sight of him in such a form the three brothers changed as well.

The three having been alone knew only a language they shared between them and what the dragon said to them was unclear and a mystery, they knew only that he was called Bane. His gestures however spoke clearly and he would offer them one thing they could not attain themselves, adventure beyond the shores of their island. So the three gathered into his careful claws were carried away from the island, over lands and finally to the mountain castle the dragon called home. Here he would teach them a new lifestyle, teach them to speak a new language.. multiples even, to read and write, to sing and play instruments. He would also give them names.

To the youngest of the unicorns he granted the name Onyx, the color of his body and glittering scales while in unicorn form. Despite their aging Onyx has maintained a childlike innocence and is still naive and playful when it comes to living. The safety of Bane's home has guaranteed that he could play his tricks or run wild as a child would like without being placed in danger, usually. One night he ventured a bit to far, got lost and accidentally twisted his ankle. This single incident brought the brothers and dragon together to recover the lost younger who is the last string that holds them all together as the unicorns grow more bold and increasingly independent. In his naivety Onyx has gained a particular level of trust with Bane who has revealed certain feelings and secrets to the unicorn who to his day has not spoken of such words to either of his brothers and has kept his word to keep these things to himself. Unlike his brothers the younger values the attentions and company of the dragon and his brothers more than the material possessions the male could give him.

Bane
"Thank you for keeping me safe!"
Onyx has accepted the dragon as more of an older brother for like Diamond and Peridot the dragon seems to have nothing but the best intentions when it comes to the unicorn and keeping him happy and safe. Blissfully unaware that he is a captive in what he considers his home.

Diamond
"Oh leave me alone, you are no fun at all!"
Onyx's eldest brother, the silly vain unicorn has a strange desire to watch over and protect his younger sibling and only their love for Onyx seems to have kept him and Peridot on speaking terms when they would otherwise not wish to associates with each other.

Peridot
"Read me another one!"
Onyx's second brother, the younger is one of the few who Peridot tolerates invading into his quiet personal time and enjoys the nights when Onyx will join him in the library for the simple but lovely old fairy tales from one of Bane's numerous books.
