Life on the sea is all I'd ever known. Like the push and pull of the tides, I'd find myself called out to the water and dragged back in to port, only to venture out again soon after. I could never stay away for long. It was a living, that much was true, but it was also so much more. Tethered to the land by obligation, I still yearned for the ocean whenever my feet tread land. There was no flow, no rhythm here.

Here there is only flat, dull monotony, stagnant earth that begrudgingly wears down as man traverses it. But you know, the sea bends to no man. Its currents are ever changing and free. It is alive, and it is beautiful. While I walk the same paths time and time again, I will never sail the same waters twice.

Life on the shore is a dull stability I cannot shake, but the water is freedom, a breath of adventure and a new beginning each day. Some have called me a fool, the spirit of a curious boy imprisoned within a man, but I can think of no greater joy than that of sailing upon an endless ocean, one where I do not know where the tides may take me next.
