Octavia Lillian Durante is the Chief Mechanical Engineer on a colony ship dubbed the "C.S. Legacy". She gave herself a male persona, under the name "Oz", in order to be taken more seriously by her coworkers, as she'd dealt with some serious hazing and abuse when they knew she was female. When her boyfriend, Dominic, sold his soul and ultimately destroyed the world, the colony ship took flight early. While in space, the ship stopped working and everyone freaked out, they destroyed things and looted, they even took the lives of others. The ship turned derelict, fast, and "Oz" has made it her mission to fix it. The crazies still around come out of hiding to break things while looking for food, and "Oz" has gone from just being male in the company of others, to cling to him like a lifeline. She has delusions that he's real, and her whole life revolves around fixing the ship with him, and her mouse Chester.
