PELLY honked disagreeably at its trainer, eyeing the bitter POKÉBLOCK greedily.

POURRITURE frowned at the big-beaked monstrosity, and turned away to rifle through her backpack, only to hear a horrible crunching and honking noise. Her bitter POKÉBLOCKs were all gone. Honking and flapping all the while, the Pelipper SWAGGERED around the shoreline, making eyes at the Wingulls off in the distance, to their disgust.

POURRITURE shook her head. "Okay, enough messing around... no. More messing around. PELLY! WATER SPORT!"

PELLY quacked charmingly and dove into the water in low, undulating flight. Sucking in a beakful of spray from a fading wave and carving into the crest of the next, it spiralled upward and created a glittering spray, to POURRITURE's cautious pleasure, before coughing alarmingly. She sighed and facepalmed as it spat out its foam payload anticlimactically on the wave, and called out, "Keep trying, PELLY! WATER SPORT!" as it honked indignantly back at her, as if to say, "Idiot! I'm trying to add a little bit of flair to the proceedings!"

Regardless, it dove into the waves off into the distance, dipping in and out in low, shallow swoops, squawking at the nearby Wingulls to get space... and rose up again, spiralling, creating a dazzling wall of spray that scintillated in rainbow colours and undulated in the oceanic breeze. POURRITURE squinted through her glasses and nodded, tiredly. It was the middle of the afternoon and finally the routine was becoming more stable. She screamed, cutting through the breeze and distance, "GOOD JOB! NOW! SHOTGUN STYLE! PELLY, USE WATER GUN!"

As PELLY dropped down through its own aurora, gracelessly, opening its maw into a rising wave, it floated like a dead man towards her at its crest, on its belly - before rolling off the wave with one enormous wingbeat. It got distance and opened its mouth with an intent look in its beady little eyes, before glowing a cerulean azure from the dopplered light of the evening and its own special power.

It whirled and exhaled, its wattle expanding impossibly, as a torrent of water shot forth from its beak, heading straight for the shore, lensing through the radiance of WATER SPORT's effect and dimming the harsh heat of the Sun with a wave of cooling water, modulating the sunlight and leaving her chilled. She smiled a rare smile and clenched her fists in excitement - then her eyes widened in alarm as the WATER GUN, even lessened by its spread focus, collapsed into its ordinary water molecules from just above her and drenched her clothes from head to toe.

"PELLY, Y- mff mff mff!" POURRITURE, abruptly cut off by the torrent of water, shut up and sat down, soaked and miserable, as PELLY hooted and soared triumphantly above her, before returning to rest inelegantly atop her head.

"Well," she stood up, "We've done about all the practice we can. Let's get to LILYCOVE CITY. PELLY, get some shuteye!" she picked up her Dive Ball and tossed it offhandedly at PELLY'S beak. PELLY squawked at her in shock before being sucked into the Dive Ball right before it slammed into its face.

She smirked as she took her BICYCLE over to the scrub nearby to set up a screen to towel off and get changed. "I should have taught you SURF, you overgrown shovel, and then I could ride you around," she paused. "I wonder how that works, anyway?"
