"Why, I like you."

As she pondered, her words were released without a single thought.

"The answer to this couldn't really be explained.
Whether your personality, your charm, your caring nature,
cowardliness, confrontations, challenges and doubts.
The way we argue and go back and forth.

The things you've shown me, your good personality
as well your bad habits and excuses.
I don't like just part of you, I accept you as a whole, and in some way,
I have come to admire you
greatly and cherish what this is and however long this friendship will last.

But what I'm trying to say is that
I cannot tell you simply 'why' I feel like this, or how my heart
sometimes has an ache because our
futures aren't told whether you will be in my life or not.

I shall never forget you,
and that my friend, is something that I can promise you, because you mean a great deal to me.
I will think of you over time and over life and remember all of our moments, the dramatic and the silly and that is how
I will want to remember you regardless of what life may
come I shall love you deep within my heart.

This is just a glimpse of what my mind and heart hold, so if you may wonder and if you might ask or ponder.
'I like you' is simple.
Because you are you. Bitter, sweet and imperfect.
I wouldn't know how to say it any less.

Whether you never reveal all of your thoughts or feelings to me-

how I feel at this exact moment, and that is darling: I love you.

Not just like you, I am fond of you in many ways and in many ways I hope you come to realize that it is not simply likeness, it is more than that.
