foresty deity / guardian of a dying wood deep in the mountain forests of china, one that's slowly being overtaken by pollution and decay over the centuries. his home looks like the forests of zhangjiajie.
his true form has six legs and antlers, but to humans he takes on the appearance of a large, strawberry tiger
sen is a benevolent deity. long ago, mountain priests and monks would come pay their respects at his temple and present offerings to him. but as his home is slowly destroyed by the progressing pollution, the priests stop coming, and his temple sits decrepit and alone. he becomes more angry and more violent.
one day, a little girl, lost and alone, stumbles into the forest. she's curious and inquisitive and, to sen's interest, pays respect to the trees with the 'ritual' the monks used to do (like a bow with a certain form and certain hand gestures over the heart). it's something that hasn't been done in decades.
the little girl was raised by her great grandfather, who had been the last monk dedicated to sen's temple. but as his health slowly started deteriorating, he was unable to make the journey up into the mountain forests to pay his respects. and so the girl grew up with a spiritual love of nature -- as sen watches her, he realizes this.
the girl keeps coming back to his forest, and each time she does, she's a bit older. sen reveals himself to her on her fourth visit. he shows her the secrets of his forest.
basically a coming-of-age story for the girl and also sort of a friendship story between a mortal and a spirit guardian
