dominic bursnell works an assistant director in a small movie studio and uses everyone and everything around him to fuel his already ridiculous ego
needless to say his coworkers find him unbearable and would kick him out if only he wasn't so damn good at what he does
not that dominic really realizes and merely goes on with life, doing his best to ignore that crippling loneliness that eats him from the inside

dominic was that kid in school, you know, the one that did like 40 different activities after school. and surprising enough he managed to be at least decent at all of them, though, by the time high school rolled around he had settled on tennis. which only lasted some three years since he quit out of the blue right before a tournament. he still has a couple trophies and medals and will gladly show them off though

but let's be real here dominic will show off absolutely anything. his true passion for cinema had been apparent since he was a child, and it came to no surprise when he decided to pursue an acting career. after university he got a place as a supporting role in a television series known as phantasmagoria. it only gathered a small cult following in varemo but did surprisingly well overseas, to the point of prompting a second season. ultimately said second season had such a messy production and changed studios so much it was a complete disaster

luckily for dominic he had no part in that, since he quit after the first season. or rather that is what he says. anyone who worked with him could guarantee that he was fired for being so godawful to work with, but dominic will deny it. once in a blue moon someone (mostly women) will recognize him on the street as hey aren't you the guy that played ezra in phantasmagoria?, and the attention gets to his head hilariously quickly

nowadays dominic would rather be behind a camera than in front of one. he works as an assistant director though, by watching the way he treats everyone else in the studio, you'd think he works as a dictator. he got nicknamed the egoist for a reason, after all. he makes it clear that he is in charge and that everyone who doesn't follow his instructions to the letter is absolutely inept and has no idea what they're doing. not even the director dares to call him out, and dominic has gotten into arguments with literally everyone

the one dominic butts heads with most often is, without a doubt, the camera operator. his dislike for naruse stems from the fact that he is often the first to confront him on his attitude. naruse is especially quick to defend someone who can't stand up for themself at dominic's yelling. furthermore, because dominic relies so much on manipulating people to fuel his ego and get what he wants, being confronted with someone like naruse who is about as expressive as a brick wall, frustrates him beyond words. if dominic feels he can't control someone/something he explodes

yet despite all this, dominic is incredibly hard working. his endless ambition and perfectionism drive him forward and he doesn't hesitate to put his own health aside if it means getting better results. in his free time (which really isn't much), dominic works on his own movie, which so far is still confined to a draft of a script. he aspires to be a director someday, and in all honesty, is definitely skilled enough to get places

oddly enough, despite his absolute lack of compassion and coldness, dominic loves animals and animals love him. he has been a vegetarian for almost a decade. dominic owns a papillon dog (her parents are purebred show dogs, do you want to see her pedigree?) called crystal who is pretty much his only friend. seeing him play with her in the park, you'd never think he's such an asshole
