"Dude, chill."
If I hear this punk say that one more time, I'm going to knock that damned beanie from his head and curl my fingers in his thick blonde hair to pull it all out. We'll see how chill he is then. Dumbass. Idiot. Annoying little-
"Dude, chill."
Mat must have detected my inner rant. If I wasn't about to lose my mind with annoyance, I would have been impressed with his keen observational skills and the unlikely bond that we had formed. But, no, I was definitely too focused on losing my cool to be impressed.
I lunged at him from across the lunch table. The action smeared green, mushy peas over the front of my shirt. There was no time to feel remorseful for my once pristine button up. Not when Mat was there laughing at my vain attempt to reach my short body across the table to strange him.
"I will not chill!" I declared, loud enough to get the attention of the petty officer that had been assigned duty during the delinquent lunch period. The delinquent lunch period! Me! Never! "You've absolutely ruined my permanent record! Dragging me into your lame scheme!"
I felt the petty officer's hands wrap around my thin arms and pull me back and out of my seat, the chair falling to the side. "Ma'am, you need to chill out."
I screamed. Mat laughed. This friendship was going to ruin me.
