Falling, falling, falling...

All she could remember was a crash, a crash that knocked her from her orbit. And then the endless falling through space, through the blackness. Until she got close, too close to another star, and helplessly hurtled towards a planet orbiting it. She burned through the atmosphere, but somehow a part of her survived the impact.

She was lost and confused. Where was she? How could she survive with only a small portion of her body, her spirit? How was she to survive on this strange planet? As she considered, creatures came and surrounded the burning crater she had made. They made noises at her, like she could understand their language. But she followed them, followed them home. She learned how to speak to them, how to interact, how to live.

But the lives on this planet seemed to move so quickly. It was so puzzling to her. Did they know that their lives went by like the blink of an eye? How could they know so much about their planet but so little of the universe beyond? Why could they not understand that there was so much more out there that they were missing?

All she could do was wait, wait while the world flashed by her. Wait for the planet to crumble to dust so she could continue her journey, and perhaps someday return home.
