but mom, i want to be a zombie!

Norbert wanted to be a zombie. He desperately wanted to be a zombie, you could even say.

When the first shambling hordes had come back from life after being infected, everyone else had been terrified, had locked themselves away and armed themselves. But not Norbert. He had buzzed out into the streets to see the brainless creatures, just waiting for one of them to get their infectious saliva all over him.

For some reason, the zombies didn’t come anywhere near him.

No matter how hard he tried, he either couldn’t get their attention, or when he did, someone would rescue him in an untimely manner. It was getting really annoying.

But he kept trying.

Until one day, he finally succeeded. He’d had to bait the zombie with some raw chicken nuggets, but he managed to get a one to drool on him. Triumphantly, he waited for his chance to turn and join the crowd of mindless zombies surrounding him.

But then, a bright light illuminated the pavement around him. Bodies in hazmat suits ran between the zombies, shoving needles into every zombie they could. Shoving a needle into Norbert.

“Why did you do that?” he asked, and while the person in the hazmat suit seemed to be surprised that he was being spoken to, they replied, “this is the cure. We’re here to save you.”

How dare they.
