In the year 2153 scientists discovered the way to combine genes from different species to create new creatures. By the year 2179 the technology was available on the open market and burgeoned into an industry that created designer pets. Each tailored individually to the exact specifications of the person purchasing the luxury animal. The original species were preserved as source DNA from which the Recos were built.

Recos became the new status symbol, everyone had to have one. Over the years a number of these pets escaped into the wild. It was then that they discovered that the Recos were not sterile as originally thought and could breed. Even the offspring was viable. The world was now faced with an expanding range of strange combinations.

Premise

For example a Cat like creature with 75% cat DNA and 25% dog DNA. They are tailored individually to the order specifications of the person buying the luxury animal. But then it is prooved that recos can cross breed. EG 75% cat 25% dog with a 75% dog 25% cat dna edited creature. The offspring are not mules and can also breed with each other - ramifications? Good/Bad
