She tried to recreate herself as a paladin, swearing an oath of redemption, but her reasons were never as noble as she tried to pretend. She did her best to fake it, engaging in heroics and acting as selflessly as she could, while deep down she cared little for the people she helped. Her true interest was in regaining the wings she'd once cherished.
Her life was once more radically changed when a chance encounter led her to gain new allies and fight alongside them. They faced myriad dangers as they worked together, uncovering dark truths behind the supposed god of peace and the troubled history of the empire. Along the way, she inadvertently gained a connection to the Raven Queen, the goddess of death that rules over the Shadowfell; and while that connection was initially confusing, it helped Rhia find more purpose as she came to understand more about the enigmatic goddess.
As she formed other connections and began to truly care about her new allies, the good she did slowly began to feel less hollow. She stopped pretending to be a kind and selfless paladin but continued to help others, saving myriad lives and helping her companions stop a number of powerful threats to not just the country but the world. She was even able to draw the other surviving members of her former criminal group away from the darker paths they'd been trapped in, bringing them into the fold of her heroic new group.
While she is too self-aware about her innate selfishness and limited empathy to feel comfortable being called a good person, Rhia has found peace in the version of herself she's become. She is not and will never be a naturally good or kind person, but she cares deeply for those that she loves and would give her life for them, and she is someone that chooses to do good rather than commit the crimes that come more naturally to her.
