One steaming hot latte with double fudge sauce, a swirl of cream and toffee sprinkles, to drink in? Sure thing, just hang on in the queue while my associate deals with your money, and we'll get that sorted for you.

I know, you're looking at me like I'm not doing anything other than just passing on your order, which you think you could do yourself. That's the thing of being a blob you see, no hands to be able to help out in the same way a 333 experiment can. But the boss-man says I'm a key employee. I mean I've won employee of the month three times so far, and I've only worked here for a year.


Hang on one second, one large hot chocolate with cream, chocolate sauce and sprinkles to take away! There you go my dear, now where was I? Oh yes, you see the boss-man wanted something to draw people in. There's four other coffee shops in this street alone, so why would they come here instead of heading over to Get Mugged, three doors down... or heading over to the Vegan cafe just up the street a little? I don't think I'm anything special, but people always stared when they spotted me, and he thought that could work to his advantage.


You see, some of the cafes and coffee shops specialise in certain types of food and drink, some like Get Mugged like to sell a bit of everything, the tea shop across the road would refuse to serve coffee as if it's the worst thing in the universe. But here? Here I'm the main attraction. People claim to come in for the coffee, but really they want to look at me and stare. It's a bit like a freak show I guess.


Don't I mind? Well not really - how many other jobs could a Blob get? I can hardly wait at tables, or serve on the tills can I? And I do this job pretty well if I do say so myself. Just look around you, the place is packed and the queue reaches the door almost all day long. But I'd better stop talking now, otherwise the boss-man will tell me off. We can't have our competitors knowing our secrets of a successful business, can we?
