No sign hangs above the entrance to the tea rooms, but visitors are drawn in by a combination of the quaint lace curtains at the windows, and the faint aroma of freshly brewed tea. Tea Leaf's business will never be able to compete with Get Mugged, but she knows that her clientele wouldn't want to sit and drink coffee anyway, and certainly never from any cafe in Centropolis that had outdoor seating. The mere thought of sipping a cup of tea while traffic rumbles past, is enough to make her head ache.
Tea Leaf has her regular customers, who tend to stop by at the same time each day, always asking for the same blend of tea each time. Of course, being a superb business-Chai, she has memorised each of her customers' favourite blends, and knows the people she can tempt to try something a little different occasionally.
Straightening out the lace tablecloth over the nearest table, she hums softly to herself as she lays out the bone china saucers in preparation for her next customers. On each saucer, she lays a silver teaspoon, before delicately adding the matching bone china cup. A small plate of tempting biscuits lies in the centre of the table, although she knows that they might easily be tempted with a slice of her homemade Victoria Sponge cake instead.
As the final cup is placed onto the awaiting saucer, the delicate tinkle of the bell above the door signifies the entry of the first customer of the afternoon. Smiling, Tea Leaf guides them over to the table she's prepared. "Can I interest you in a cup of tea, my dear?"
