Anabelle 'Minuit' Fowler

Anabelle Fowler, known by the stage name Minuit, started singing at the young age of four. She immediately captured the heart of thousands of people in her hometown with her sweet angelic voice. In an interview with the BBC in 1937, she stated ''Back when I was in kindergarten, I wanted to be an actress. I dreamed of being on the big screen. Little did I know that I would eventually be, but as a singer''

Minuit said that she had 'A relatively happy childhood. My dad died in the war, and my mom died of a mysterious illness in 1925. I was 7 then, and an orphan. Luckily, my uncle was the owner of a big British coorporation. He took me and my five siblings under his wings, so we had everything we needed.'' Minuit's uncle, Gilroy Fowler, died in 1934. She meet her current agent, Fitzgerald Johnston, at Mister Fowler's funeral.

Minuit always spoke highly of Johnston: ''Fitz was a big inspiration for me. He was a young ermerging pianist in England before the war.He fought for his country, but lost two fingers in the process. He kept trying to play, but wouldn't land any contracts after the 1929 crash. He wasn't ''good enough'' anymore for the few places who still hired musicians. He didn't let that bring him down and decided to become involved in the music scene in other ways. He was helping a couple of local emerging artists land contracts when I meet him. His determination and perseverance are what pushed me to pursue my dream.''

Johnston wasn't well known in the music scene when he started working with Minuit. Minuit said on several ocasions that she trusted him more than anyone she meet in her life.

She was only 16 when she took France by storm with the release of her first LP, the self titled 'Minuit', in December 1934. Johnston had managed to land her a deal with the biggest record house in Europe. Even tho this first LP contained mostly songs in French, her fame quickly spread through Europe.

Now aged 21, Minuit is the current American Sweetheart. Her name is one every lips. She will be starting her first American tour next month, with 32 sold out dates!
